JOB DESCRIPTION:
As a major contractor engaged in design and construction of large-scale projects in the client location,the client has delivered projects in some of the most challenging ground conditions; thus, it is looking to add to its staff experienced geotechnical engineers seeking challenging projects requiring geotechnical investigation program development and execution, design of complex ground improvement systems, deep foundation design and installation, advanced finite element modelling for geotechnical analysis, and other geotechnical-related project activities.

Summary:
The position will be part of Thacker Pass Project Execution Team and will be based in Winnemucca, Nevada.
The successful candidate is expected to work independently and will report to the project s Geotechnical Engineering Lead or their designee.
They will also liaise with other geotechnical engineers/engineering geologists assigned to the Project Execution and Engineering/Construction Teams.
In this role you will provide field oversight and coordination of on-going earthwork activities at the site.
This will include reviews of specifications, witnessing and reviewing field test results, enforcement of specification and drawing requirements, troubleshooting, etc.
This field assignment is expected to extend for 6 months at the job site in Nevada.
Major Responsibilities:
Reviews, scope of works, technical specifications and drawings for earthworks.
Ensures that technical requirements are enforced in the field.
Provides technical coordination and oversees the work of Contractors performing earthworks.
Interfaces with field representatives from earthwork Contractors and the client's Construction team.
Maintains regular communication with the project s Geotechnical Engineering Lead.
Education and Experience Requirements:
An M.S. degree in Geotechnical Engineering or Engineering Geology with a minimum of 8 years of working experience in the field, or a B.S. in Geotechnical Engineering or Engineering Geology and minimum 10 years of experience. Degrees must be from an accredited institution.
Professional registration is preferred.
Demonstrable advanced proficiency in areas provided under Required Knowledge.
Should be computer literate and familiar with office and geotechnical software.
Should have hands on experience in execution of earthworks and previous experience working at a large construction site.
Required Knowledge and Skills:
Broad based knowledge of geotechnical engineering and rock mechanics.
Knowledge of earthwork construction, subsurface investigation and testing methodology including field and laboratory techniques.
Broad knowledge of processes in the field of engineering and field engineering for large scale projects.
Knowledge of health and safety requirements in large scale construction projects.
Proficiency in English.
